Introduction of the initiative

Society 5.0 Realization Research Support Project

This project supports research organizations that aim to realize the vision of Society 5.0 using information science and technology. By encouraging collaboration across projects and university organizations, we accelerate the adoption of research results in real-world society.

* In Society 5.0, people will lead active and high-quality lives by embracing innovations in IoT, Big Data, robotics, and AI.

Initiative for Life Design Innovation (iLDi)

While the Personal Health Record (PHR) is a database of human medical and health information, PLR additionally incorporates data about various daily activities such as daily habits, diet, exercise, and workplace and school activities. Toward this goal, we are simultaneously building a platform to collect information for PLR and creating a secure central management method to control access to personal data using blockchain and anonymity technologies. Furthermore, using data collected through an empirical study with consenting patients who visit the University or affiliated hospitals, we are implementing 10 research projects to validate the usefulness of PLR in real-world situations.

An experimental ground for collecting PLR data

We use the Osaka University campus as an evaluation ground to collect research data.

Expert training

We train leading AI technology experts, who are highly sought after by corporations, through a short-term educational program that combines university lectures and practicum dealing with data.

Grand Challenge (Open call for research proposals)

We accept research proposals related to the utilization of PLR, which is the main research objective of iLDi. Specifically, we welcome research proposals on PLR solutions, PLR platforms, and we encourage the establishment of facilities that enable an experimental evaluation of the proposed technologies.
